Since yesterday, fitness studios have been required to wear masks not only when entering and leaving the sports facility. Mouth and nose protection must also be worn in the checkroom and on the way to and from the training area. This was clarified today by the Professional Association of Leisure and Sports Companies in the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber (WKÖ) in response to an APA inquiry.
The mask may only be taken off during direct sports practice, “when changing from one device to another we recommend wearing mouth-nose protection”, it was said. Overall, there is great uncertainty in the industry – there are over 1,200 fitness studios in Austria, more than 200 of them in Vienna.
The Ministry of Health, for example, prescribes a prevention concept on its website for fitness studios to minimize the risk of infection. In the current Covid 19 measure regulation such a such is however only demanded for kinds of sport, with whose practice it comes to physical contact with other sportsmen and sportswomen and sportswomen. The latter is not the case in fitness studios, stressed the WKÖ professional association. One hopes therefore for an early clarification on the part of the ministry.
