Almost 4,000 new cases were reported within 24 hours throughout Austria.
The number of new infections in Austria remains high. In the past 24 hours, 3,972 new cases were reported, and an average of 4,136 new infections were added daily over the past seven days. Since Tuesday, 121 Covid-19 deaths have been reported, according to figures from the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Health. However, there are fewer patients in hospitals and intensive care units.
Exactly one week ago, the highest number of occupied intensive care beds was reached; 709 Covid-19 patients needed intensive care treatment at that time. Since then, their number has been declining. On Tuesday, 691 patients were still in intensive care units; by Wednesday, the figure had risen to 674. The total number of hospitalized patients is also declining. Most patients were registered on November 24, and 4,689 on Tuesday last week. Today, Wednesday, the authorities reported 4,245 SARS-CoV-2 patients in hospitals – compared to 4,482 on Tuesday.
Most cases in Upper Austria
Within a week, 779 people died. In the meantime, 3,446 people have died in Austria as a result of the coronavirus. Up to one week ago, 2,667 deaths were reported.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, 289,461 people in Austria have tested positive for the coronavirus. 233,657 are considered to have recovered.
Most new infections were reported on Wednesday with 677 from Upper Austria. There were 636 new cases in Lower Austria, 593 in Styria, 553 in Vienna and 450 in Salzburg. In Tyrol 332 new infections were added in the past 24 hours, in Carinthia 358, in Vorarlberg 222 and Burgenland reported 151 new cases.
