For the second time this year, the Interior and Health Ministries have reported more than 2,000 new Corona infections on a Sunday: there were 2,199, after 2,123 new cases last Sunday. A total of 1,447 Covid 19 sufferers were treated in hospitals, including 314 in intensive care units, a decrease of four and eight, respectively, compared to Saturday, but there was a 12 percent increase week-over-week.
Week-on-week, the increase in hospital patients is 156 compared to last Sunday, with 35 intensive care patients added. The number of deaths increased by 19 from yesterday, Saturday, to 8,713 people who died from or with Covid-19. Within the past week, 152 deaths were recorded. An average of 19 more deaths occurred per day. Per 100,000 population, 97.9 people have died from or with Covid-19.
As of today, there have been 475,070 positive test results in Austria since the outbreak of the pandemic, 443,152 people have recovered, so 23,205 people are currently actively infected. The 2,123 new infections were again offset by 1,843 fewer newly recovered persons.
