The traffic light commission ranked the overall state in the “medium risk” category on Thursday. Burgenland reaches “low risk”.
Austria has entered the yellow phase in the corona crisis. Namely, the traffic light commission ranked the entire state in the “medium risk” category on Thursday. Only for Tyrol and Vorarlberg is still determined high risk, that is, orange.
A new color was introduced, namely yellow-green for low risk. Only Burgenland is currently in this zone. The other provinces from Vienna to Salzburg are yellow. The fact that Burgenland is not already completely green is due to a new category that was introduced – very low risk of spread, which for the time being does not reach any province. In this one, an extremely low incidence is envisaged.
None in the red zone
For the first time in many months, no province was in the red zone, which starts at 100 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants, during the past week. Vorarlberg has now also fallen well below this mark, with an incidence of just over 75.
For medium risk, an incidence of less than 50 is required. This week, all federal states except Vorarlberg, Tyrol and Upper Austria have already met this criterion, both in absolute terms and in terms of risk-adjusted incidence, which also takes into account factors such as the age of those infected. In the latter case, Upper Austria also belongs to the yellow group.
