Cloudy weather in Austria with rain and thunderstorms

According to the ZAMG forecast, temperatures will remain in the cooler range for the time being. In the coming days, sun and rain will alternate, and on Saturday, thunderstorms must be expected in some places.

Sun and rain: Austria divided in two on Friday
In the west and south, it will remain largely dry on Friday, the sun will show up frequently. Otherwise, some denser cloud fields will quickly appear and between Salzburg and the Waldviertel and Mostviertel, Friday will be unsettled at times with some rain showers.

The wind will be light to moderate, in the Vienna Woods also brisk from west to northwest. Early temperatures: three to eleven degrees, daily highs: 14 to 22 degrees.

Saturday rainy, thunderstorms possible
Again and again, dense cloud fields will pass through on Saturday and the sun will shine only temporarily and briefly in most parts of the country. In addition, it will remain unstable and the tendency to showers will be high. The formation of small thunderstorm cells is also possible. The sun should shine more often in the north and east of Austria, where there should also be fewer showers.

The wind will blow weakly to moderately from northwest to north. Early temperatures: five to 13 degrees, daily highs: 14 to 22 degrees.

Unsettled weather continues on Sunday
North of the main ridge of the Alps, it will be repeatedly densely cloudy on Sunday, with the possibility of fairly frequent rain. In the northeast, it will also be mostly moderately to heavily cloudy, but there are more likely to be only isolated rain showers. Larger sunny windows are mainly found on the southern side of the Alps, where only isolated rain showers develop even in the afternoon. Early temperatures: five to eleven degrees, daily highs: 13 to 20 degrees.

May ends changeable and cool
Quite changeable and mostly below average temperatures will end the month of May on Monday, but details of the weather pattern are still uncertain. At least in the eastern half of Austria, with varying, often heavy cloud cover, individual rain showers must be expected. Good chances of more sunshine are offered by the southwest and far west of the country.

The wind from northerly directions will often blow briskly or even strongly, especially on the eastern edge of the Alps and in some Föhn valleys in East Tyrol, Carinthia and Styria. Early temperatures: three to eleven degrees, daytime highs again mostly only 13 to 20 degrees.

Sun shines through more often on the first day of June
At least in the eastern half of Austria, extensive clouds will spread again on the first day of June (Tuesday), after an often friendly start. A few rain showers will probably be present again, but overall the precipitation tendency should already decrease somewhat. Chances of a few hours of sunshine are again mainly in the southwest and far west of the country.

The north wind will blow in the eastern half of the country, sometimes very briskly, towards the west much weaker. Early temperatures: four to twelve, daily highs: 14 to 21 degrees.
