EU certificates, curfews, entry forms: Whoever goes on vacation has to reckon with constantly changing rules, depending on the country.
Travel tips for your summer vacation 2021
Spain: Regions decide on restrictions themselves – in Mallorca, for example, there are nighttime curfews. No certificate is required for entry from Austria, but airlines can demand one. Attention: As of Tuesday, returnees from the Netherlands, Spain, Cyprus need proof of vaccination, recovery or PCR test at Austria’s airports – otherwise the latter must be carried out “immediately”.
Croatia: For entry, it needs since July 1, an EU-wide valid certificate of at least a 3 G. But the 3 G certificates issued by individual countries also apply. Hotels then receive their guests without restrictions. The popular vacation destination had recently made headlines – unfortunately with infected travelers returning home: there are more than 300 cases in this country after the “Austria goes Zrce” festival.
Germany: Since August 1, German federal police have been stepping up checks on mandatory testing for travelers returning home. All people aged twelve and over must prove they have tested negative, been vaccinated or recovered when entering the country. Such a requirement already existed for all airline passengers, but now it applies regardless of the mode of transport. Checks are carried out on a random basis, with the focus on freeways and federal roads as well as on the Prague-Berlin train route. However, no one will be turned back at the borders, it was emphasized; in the event of violations, the report of an administrative offense will be forwarded to the relevant authorities. The first vacation cancellations by German holidaymakers in Austria in response have already occurred.
Italy: In Italy, too, the numbers continue to rise. The government has therefore decided to impose additional restrictions: As of Aug. 6, proof of vaccination, a negative Corona test valid for 48 hours or proof of recovery will be required for indoor restaurant visits, museums, gyms and swimming pools, among other things. The expanded use of the Green Pass is not an arbitrary act, but a condition of openings, they say. Masks are needed in the open, for example, if the minimum distance can not be maintained, for entry also an entry form. Incidentally, the government is also currently considering the possibility of allowing only passengers with green passports on long-distance trains.
Turkey: the government had agreed to relax in early July, but recently the daily number of new infections rose to more than 20,000. Entry requires online registration and proof (full vaccination, recovery, or PCR or antigen test); none is required for children under six. Random PCR tests may be conducted at crossings.
Greece: In Greece, the numbers continue to rise with regional variations. The result: stricter rules, which are strictly controlled. For example, there is a ban on dancing in bars and clubs, and only vaccinated persons are allowed in enclosed spaces such as cinemas or theaters. In addition, there is the possibility of forest fires – inform well in advance. Entry: currently with 3-G rule and registration.
Rest of Europe: quite different are the requirements in the rest of Europe. Slovenia, for example, has tightened its rules, for example, 3-G rules apply to entry and inside Gastro and Co. Those who want to enter the Czech Republic from Austria must be tested or fully vaccinated for at least 14 days and have an online registration form. Nothing is needed to enter Hungary. Malta, on the other hand, only lets in vaccinated people.
