Today, temperatures rise to a maximum of 24 degrees, and in the early morning the thermometer sometimes drops below ten degrees.
The summer temperatures are over for the time being. As the Vienna Central Institute for Meteorology and Geodynamics (ZAMG) announced on Sunday, the coming week brings a hint of autumn with corresponding temperatures.

On Monday, a band of clouds and precipitation moves off eastward and southeastward, but Austria remains under the influence of low pressure. With a mix of intermittent sunshine and clouds, a few rain showers will pass through during the day, most of them along the northern side of the Alps. In places, these will also be accompanied by thunder and lightning. The wind will blow briskly from the west in some areas, especially on the northern side of the Alps, otherwise it will be mostly light to moderate. Early temperatures will reach nine to 18 degrees Celsius, with daily highs between 18 and 24 degrees it will be noticeably cooler than recently.

Increased rain showers on Tuesday
Tuesday will bring a northwesterly to northerly flow of cooler and shower-prone air masses to Austria. Especially on the northern side of the Alps and in the north, repeated rain showers will pass through. Otherwise, the cloud cover will clear up again and again and the sun will appear. Longer sunny spells can be found in the afternoon and generally in the south. Away from the mountains, precipitation is less likely, but one or two showers cannot be completely ruled out. In the east, the north wind often blows very briskly, on the southern side of the Alps it can become slightly foehny. Early temperatures will climb to nine to 16 degrees, during the day 16 to 23 degrees are expected.

Intermediate high pressure on Wednesday
On Wednesday, the influence of intermediate high pressure will become effective. Particularly on the northern edge of the Alps and in the inner Alps, some residual clouds may persist, with occasional showers. In the rest of Austria, cloud remnants will quickly dissipate and the sun will prevail. In the course of the day, a few spring clouds will form, the tendency to showers will be somewhat increased, especially in the western mountains. The north wind will blow moderately to briskly at the eastern edge of the Alps, otherwise the wind will be mostly light to moderate. Early temperatures will range from eight to 14 degrees, with a maximum of 17 to 23 degrees during the day.

Cold front in Austria on Thursday
Starting from a low pressure area over northern Germany, a cold front will reach Austria from the northwest during the day on Thursday. Already in the morning, some cloud fields will pass through in the north and east, otherwise the sun will shine frequently. In the course of the morning, the clouds will thicken from the northwest and rain will start, which will affect large parts of Austria by the evening. In the south, individual thunderstorms are also possible. The wind will be brisk, in exposed areas also strong from the west. Early temperatures will range between eight and 15 degrees Celsius, with no more than 17 to 24 degrees during the day.

A low pressure system over Germany will continue to bring unsettled and cool, early autumn weather on Friday. Sunshine, cloudy phases and rain showers will alternate. There will be more rain showers in the northern parts of the country and on the northern edge of the Alps, while the dry phases will predominate in the eastern lowlands. The wind will often blow moderately to briskly from the west. The early morning temperatures will again be eight to 15 degrees, the daily highs 14 to 22 degrees.
