The extensive waiver of coronavirus protective measures announced yesterday will also be implemented in churches. From Holy Saturday, no mask must be worn in Catholic services, only when entering and leaving the church. Singing is also allowed without restrictions, “nothing more stands in the way of a festive musical arrangement of the Easter liturgy,” reported Kathpress.
The Bishops’ Conference adopted the framework order, as usual, to the state requirements. Unlike a year ago, registration for the Easter services is no longer necessary this year.
However, touching is still waived for the greeting of peace. The previously detailed regulations no longer apply for celebrations such as baptism, first communion, confirmation, and marriage, but a prevention concept must still be drawn up. Confessions may now be made in the confessional again, although FFP2 is mandatory for both.
