With the action “climate month,” one receives a free month to purchase an Austria-wide climate ticket.

When buying an Austria-wide climate ticket, you can use public transportation throughout Austria for thirteen months instead of twelve, starting at the beginning of the month. The “Climate Month” promotion is valid until December 2022.

For customers who extend after one year, the action is valid until June 2023. According to Environment and Transport Minister Leonore Gewessler (Greens), it is a “quick and uncomplicated protection against inflation.”

Over 168,000 climate tickets have been sold since its introduction last October. The current price is 1,095 euros per year. The thirteenth month thus means a saving of just over 91 euros, it said in a release on Friday. With the discounted tickets around 821 euros, the climate month brings just over 68 euros, with the version family for 1,205 euros just over 100 euros. The promotion also applies to payment by installments, in which the proportionally reduced amount is debited thirteen times.
