VIENNA, Austria — The renowned Kammerchor Manila, under the musical direction of Mr. Anthony Go Villanueva, is set to bring its musical artistry to Austria with a series of performances and liturgical celebrations in Vienna this September.
Under the evocative theme “Somniare – Voices That Dream,” the choir will present a program that combines choral music, community engagement and faith, offering audiences in Vienna an opportunity to experience the richness of Filipino choral tradition.
Performances begin at Stephansplatz
The Austrian visit will officially begin on Saturday, September 5, with a performance at Stephansplatz. At 11:00 a.m., Kammerchor Manila will present a Sigmund Freud Park Performance, bringing its voices to the heart of Vienna and creating an opportunity for both Filipino and international audiences to enjoy the ensemble’s music.
Later that evening, at 7:00 p.m., the choir will participate in a Mass Service at St. Stephen’s Cathedral, one of Vienna’s most iconic landmarks.
Mini-concert and Mass on September 6
The musical journey continues on Sunday, September 6. At 11:30 a.m., Kammerchor Manila will hold a mini-concert and Mass Service at Salvator am Wienerfeld.
In the evening, the choir will continue its religious musical ministry with a 6:00 p.m. Mass Service at the Franziskanerkirche.
The combination of concert performances and church services highlights the choir’s role not only as a musical ensemble but also as an ambassador of Filipino culture and spirituality.
Courtesy visit to the Philippine Embassy
As part of its Austrian program, Kammerchor Manila is also scheduled for a courtesy visit to the Philippine Embassy in Vienna on September 8.
The visit is expected to further strengthen the cultural ties between Filipinos in Austria and the Philippines, while recognizing the important role of Filipino artists and cultural groups in promoting the country’s heritage abroad.
