Exactly 50.0 – this seven-day incidence per 100,000 people was reported on Saturday. In the past 24 hours, there were 583 new infections, which is below the average of the past seven days (636). There was also a positive trend in hospitals, where 679 patients were cared for, 28 fewer than on Friday. 242 people are in intensive care units – which is an increase of eight since the previous day, but were 79 fewer than a week ago.
The province with the highest seven-day incidence is currently Vorarlberg with 76.5, followed by Tyrol, Styria and Upper Austria (73.1, 56.4 and 55.4, respectively). This is followed by Vienna (47), Lower Austria (40.7), Burgenland (34.6) and Salzburg (18.1).
8,337 active cases in Austria
Since the outbreak of the epidemic, 621,998 people have recovered, with 1,161 within the past 24 hours. On the other hand, there have also been seven deaths (seven-day average: 10.1), which means that the pandemic has so far claimed 10,541 lives in Austria. Per 100,000, 118.4 people have died from or with Covid-19. As of Saturday, there were 8,337 active cases in Austria, down 585 from Friday.
In the past 24 hours, 733,220 PCR and rapid antigen tests were reported. The positive rate of the 95,190 PCR tests was 0.6 percent. This is lower than last week’s average (0.8 percent of PCR tests positive).
101,255 vaccinations were administered Friday. In total, 3,288,001 Austrians have already received at least one partial vaccination, according to E-vaccination passport data: That’s 36.9 percent of the population. Around 1.2 million, or 13.9 percent, are fully immunized. As of Friday, the vaccination coverage rate was highest in Burgenland with 40.6 percent, and lowest in Vienna with 33.1.
