Regardless of nationwide lockdown rumors, the new Vienna ordinance – with tightened 2G+ provisions – goes into effect today, Friday.

New ordinance in Vienna starting Friday
For the time being, the new Corona measures in Vienna are limited until November 26, as the federal ordinance on which they are based also only applies until then, it was stressed.

2G+ comes into force in Vienna on November 19
At the heart of the new measures is, among other things, the so-called 2Gplus rule, which is coming in certain areas, and a more restrictive mask requirement. In the federal capital, for example, night catering establishments and “gatherings” of 25 or more people may in future only be visited if vaccinated or recovered persons also present a PCR test result. In the future, 2Gplus will apply to larger events in the sports and cultural sector, for example. It does not matter whether these take place indoors or outdoors.

In exceptional cases, an antigen test is also sufficient
In exceptional cases, an antigen test may also be sufficient, for example if a PCR test was demonstrably not available. A rapid test can also be used if the test was not evaluated in time. In addition, the requirement does not apply if a covid illness has been survived within the past 40 days. For adolescents between the ages of 12 and 15, the 2.5G rule applies. This means that a PCR test alone is also recognized.

FFP2 mask requirement also extended in Vienna
The FFP2 mask requirement is also being extended, namely to all non-private indoor areas. In the catering trade, guests must again reach for the mask when they go to their seats or to the toilet. This applies to staff in general – including those in the retail sector and service providers close to the body. In terms of the workplace, it is stated that employees or owners must wear an FFP2 mask when entering places of occupational activity in enclosed spaces. This applies “if physical contact with other persons cannot be ruled out and the risk of infection is not minimized by other measures”.
