The year 2022 will also bring changes in mobility: For example, the digital driver’s license will be introduced. As of March 1, 2022, the parking sticker and short-stay parking zone in Vienna will be extended to the entire city.
The period of validity and duration will be standardized – also in the existing short-stay parking zones – to two hours from Monday to Friday from 9:00 to 22:00.
Area-wide parking sticker in Vienna from March 1, 2022
From March 1, parking in Vienna will only be permitted with a parking permit or parking sticker. The parking ticket will then cost a uniform 10 euros per month for every Viennese. For residents of the outer districts it will be more expensive, they previously had to pay 7.50 euros per month for the Pickerl. The new parking permit can already be applied for online, and this will be possible in the municipal district offices from January 10, 2022.
Digital driver’s license to be delayed
In spring 2021, with a delay of around one year, it will be possible to carry a driver’s license stored on a cell phone. However, the so-called “digital driver’s license” is not a replacement for existing documents. However, the original document no longer has to be carried. The driver’s license on the cell phone costs nothing.
As of April, the renewal of temporary driver’s licenses for health reasons will be more favorable, according to the ÖAMTC. The state application and issuing fee will then be waived. What will have to be paid is the medical examination required in each case and the production of the check card.
