Kalush Orchestra won the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 in Turin – thanks to record-breaking calls. The European callers voted mainly for Peace. They also helped the genre of hip hop to a premiere victory.

Eurovision Song Contest
The juries did not see Ukraine in front. In their result, “Stefania” reached fourth place. Great Britain was the significant jury winner. The candidate Sam Ryder had to settle for second place in the end with “Space Man.” However, this should not stand in the way of a career.

Eurovision 2023
It will probably remain open until the fall when the Eurovision Song Contest will be held in 2023. The Ukrainian delegation emphasizes that the venue must be one in which peace prevails, and all safety can be guaranteed. One hopes, of course, for peace and security in one’s own country soon. Or at least in the west of the country. Stockholm and Poland have already offered themselves as alternatives. Vienna has not yet. The EBU remains neutral, saying some deadlines and requirements must be met.

First hip hop victory
In 1995, rap was sent to the Eurovision Song Contest for the first time. Since then, there have been numerous attempts to score with the genre, but few successful ones. Kalush’s very creative use of folklore as a rap troupe also opens up prospects for hip hop at the contest.
