Not all plants have a positive effect on the indoor climate. A green oasis in the bedroom can disturb your sleep under certain circumstances. This “green stuff” has no place in your bedroom:
Strong-smelling plants: Fragrant things like lavender, jasmine, or lilies can significantly disrupt your sleep quality. Their pungent smell can also cause headaches. Allergy sufferers, in particular, should avoid placing these houseplants in the bedroom.
Sick plants: If the soil in the plant pot is moldy and the plant is suffering, this can lead to allergic reactions. You should also avoid a sick plant in other rooms of your home and instead get rid of it.
Too many plants: In and of themselves, plants are a real benefit to indoor air quality. During the day, they give off a lot of oxygen, but at night, many “breathe” it back in. As long as you don’t have too many plants in your bedroom, their nocturnal oxygen consumption shouldn’t be a big deal and should be balanced out during the day. But regular airing is a must!
