EIGHT MORE DEATHS – 1029 new corona cases in Austria, 427 in Vienna

In a 24-hour comparison, more than 1000 new corona infections have once again been recorded in Austria. Exactly 1029 cases have been registered since Tuesday (as of 9.30 a.m.) according to information from the crisis management team, 427 of them in Vienna alone. Most recently, the increase in cases on October 3 was in the four-digit range (1058), and even more had only been registered in the middle of the lockdown on March 26 (1065). Another eight corona-infected people died.

So far there have been 50,848 positive test results in Austria. Across Austria, 830 people have died as a result of the coronavirus and 40,499 have recovered. Currently, 525 patients are undergoing treatment at home, 100 of them in intensive care units.

More than 4800 active cases in Vienna
Vienna remains the country’s infection hotspot: According to the medical crisis team of the federal capital, there are now more than 4800 active cases. In the past 24 hours, 427 new infections have been added, and 305 people have recovered at the same time.

In addition to Vienna, the new infections are distributed among the other federal states as follows: Lower Austria (173), Upper Austria (141), Tyrol (123), Salzburg and Burgenland 42 each, Vorarlberg (34), Styria (31), Carinthia (16).

Corona Fund extended
The Corona relief funds such as hardship funds, non-profit funds for associations and bridging funds for artists will be extended until the end of the year – the hardship fund even until the end of March 2021, as Vice Chancellor Werner Kogler (Greens), Tourism Minister Elisabeth Köstinger, Finance Minister Gernot Blümel (both ÖVP) and State Secretary for Culture Andrea Mayer announced on Wednesday morning.
